Shiver me timbers

"Morro Bay", boat, waterfrontBlue on blue And I’m leaving my family, I’m leaving all my friends

My body’s at home, but my heart’s in the wind

Where the clouds are like headlines upon a new front-page sky

And shiver me timbers, ‘cause I’m a-sailin away

 - Tom Waits, “Shiver me timbers”

I often return to the little fishing village where I grew up.  And whenever I do, this particular Tom Waits song runs through my head.  Since today is Mr. Waits' birthday, it seemed right to celebrate with a new photograph taken during a recent visit.  Happy Birthday to the man whose voice has been described as sounding like it was "soaked in vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car." (Daniel Durchholz)
